Find Out How The Navigators Began

Since 1957, Eagle Lake Camps have been offering summer camps in the Colorado Springs area that are combined with a Christ-centered focus and fun activities geared for youths ages 7-18.  Our goal is to provide young people a safe place to grow spiritually, emotionally, physically and socially while having the opportunity to experience the outdoors.  Summer programs for 2014 include an outstanding selection of Colorado Springs Overnight Camps, our Day Camp at Glen Eyrie, and our Eagle Lake On Location programs that are spread out across the country.

While you may already be aware of the wonderful programs that we offer to young people each summer, you may not be as familiar with the rich history of the Camps.  Eagle Lake was started by The Navigators back in 1957 as part of the ministry of working with youths; but the beginning of The Navigators dates back to the 1930’s.

The founder of The Navigators was Dawson Trotman, who started his ministry in Southern California working with high school students.  His inspiration came from the scripture, 2 Timothy 2:2: "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others."  Trotman went on to teach sailors in the U.S. Navy, and by the end of World War II, there were thousands of men growing in Christ and actively sharing their faith.  The principle of spiritual multiplication by the person-to-person teaching of God's word was starting to grow and spread.

At the same time, the high school students of Trotman’s earlier teachings in Southern California were starting to reach out to others and spread the word throughout their communities.  Now 80 years later, as an international, interdenominational Christian ministry, The Navigators is in over 100 countries around the world serving those who are seeking Christ in their lives.  Our goal is to make a permanent difference in the lives of people around the world. Our purpose—To Know Christ and to Make Him Known®—describes the center and direction of the ministry.

Eagle Lake Camps were founded by The Navigators Christian Ministry and offer exciting adventures for overnight campers ages 8-18, and day camps packed with fun-filled activities geared for ages 7-12.  Our programs have a Christ-centered focus that helps to promote spiritual growth and provide value, safety and fun for each camper.  Please contact us to learn more about our summercamps.

Summer will be here before we know it, and you will need to have some quality activities lined up for the kids.  As one of the top summer camps in the Colorado Springs area, Eagle Lake offers young people a variety of fun-filled activities that have a Christ-centered focus.  Since we are filling up fast, we encourage you to secure a spot in one of our premier Overnight Camps for ages 7-18 with the choice of Residential Camps, Horse Camp, Excursions Camps and Crew Camps.  In addition, take a look at our quality Day Camp at Glen Eyrie and the multiple programs across the country through Eagle Lake On Location for ages 7-12.

Eagle Lake Camps is owned and operated by The Navigators, whose ministry is to love and serve Christ through discipleship and by teaching the life-giving application of Scripture in daily life.  One of the ways we serve The Navigators’ mission of discipleship is our collegiate program that is found on campuses across the country and has reached out to millions of college students.
The Navigators Collegiate ministry is one of the primary sources of a thriving fellowship of over twelve thousand students who serve to share Jesus with other students.  Each year they teach between forty and fifty thousand others the ideas and values that form a cornerstone to be built on through life-on-life relationships, recreation, and discipleship.  In acknowledging the importance of these crucial years, our goal is to equip students with the tools they need to become men and women of strong character and humble hearts.

If you are a college student, find out if there is a Navs group on your campus as we have 160 locations throughout the country.  Also check out the many wonderful opportunities available to spend summers with The Navigators.  For instance, you may be interested in one of The Navigators’ Summer Training Programs, Summer Overseas, or Eagle Lake Camps that bring together like-minded, believing college students to stoke the fire of passion for God as they do Kingdom work.
