Empowered
by the Holy Spirit, The Navigators’ international advancement of the Gospel
overseas is done primarily through two ministries, NavMissions and Discipling
for Development. Our work of launching
disciplemaking ministries across the globe and making disciples among all
nations follows in the footsteps of our founder, Dawson Trotman. The Navigators first overseas mission was to
China in 1949.
As
one of our U.S. international ministries, NavMissions sends
Americans that wish to serve as missionaries overseas and then sustains them throughout
the course of their stay. NavMissions supports
missionaries in over 50 countries, from North and South America to Africa,
Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Pacific. Many of our missionaries are in areas where people
have historically been resistant to the Gospel, which is why we make sure to
sustain and disciple all of our overseas workers to enable them to disciple to
others.
The
other major arm of our international ministries is Discipling for Development,
which is dedicated to discipling people, developing communities, and
transforming lives in impoverished areas throughout Africa. Since so many of the small villages lack the
required basic necessities for healthy living conditions, sufficient food, and
economic hope, Discipling for Development works to transform their thinking and
behavior.
We
empower the community to create their own solutions and show them how to
reproduce this process in others. It is
The Navigators way of enabling people to become all that God intended for them
to be instead of just simply meeting their short-term needs.
