While
you may already be aware of the wonderful programs that we offer to young
people each summer, you may not be as familiar with the rich history of the
Camps. Eagle Lake was started by The
Navigators back in 1957 as part of the ministry of working with youths; but the
beginning of The Navigators dates back to the 1930’s.
The
founder of The Navigators was Dawson Trotman, who started his ministry in
Southern California working with high school students. His inspiration came from the scripture, 2
Timothy 2:2: "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many
witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach
others." Trotman went on to teach
sailors in the U.S. Navy, and by the end of World War II, there were thousands
of men growing in Christ and actively sharing their faith. The principle of spiritual multiplication by
the person-to-person teaching of God's word was starting to grow and
spread.
At
the same time, the high school students of Trotman’s earlier teachings in
Southern California were starting to reach out to others and spread the word
throughout their communities. Now 80
years later, as an international, interdenominational Christian ministry, The
Navigators is in over 100 countries around the world serving those who are
seeking Christ in their lives. Our goal
is to make a permanent difference in the lives of people around the world. Our
purpose—To Know Christ and to Make Him Known®—describes the center and
direction of the ministry.
Eagle Lake Camps were founded by The
Navigators Christian Ministry and offer exciting adventures for overnight
campers ages 8-18, and day camps packed with fun-filled activities geared for
ages 7-12. Our programs have a
Christ-centered focus that helps to promote spiritual growth and provide value,
safety and fun for each camper. Please
